A week of T-shirts, jeans, underwear and kids’ clothes, weighed together. Up to 6kg costs AED 60 and up to 12kg AED 99; above that, AED 12 per kilo. It comes back to Royal Residence Resort folded within 24 hours, so the washing machine question disappears.

Office shirts, a blazer for a meeting in Ajman or Sharjah, a suit for an interview. Shirts are AED 15, trousers AED 18, a blazer AED 40 and a two-piece suit AED 50. Collected before noon, back pressed the same evening.

If you wash your own clothes in the apartment but hate ironing, send them to us. Shirts on hangers are AED 9, trousers AED 12, a kandura AED 12 and a blouse AED 10. Hung and returned within 24 hours.

For bedding you own, such as a duvet brought from home or the children’s sheets, not the hotel’s linen. A bed sheet is AED 18, a pillow case AED 7, a duvet AED 50 and a blanket AED 30. A day for most items; large duvets take 48 hours.

Office shoes scuffed on site visits, school shoes or trainers. Formal shoes and trainers are AED 55 a pair, boots AED 85 and kids’ shoes AED 35. Light restoration is AED 50. Allow two to four days.

The laptop bag that goes to work every day and the children’s school bags. A briefcase or laptop bag is AED 45, a school bag AED 40 and a suitcase from AED 85. Three to five days.

Trousers that need taking in after a few months, a broken trouser zip, a shirt sleeve to shorten. Most jobs are AED 40, a major waist change AED 50 and a full set of buttons AED 120. We need 48 to 72 hours.

For rugs and curtains you own, in the apartment or at a home nearby; never the hotel’s furnishings. Regular carpet is AED 20 per square metre, wool AED 26, and curtains AED 20, or AED 25 with blackout. Three days.

For residents marrying while they live here, or guests at a family wedding. Bridal gowns are cleaned from AED 250, beaded ones from AED 450; a veil is AED 55 and a preservation box AED 210. Seven to fourteen days.

For event and promotion staff living here who work in costume at malls and parties. Mascots are AED 200 small, AED 230 medium and AED 250 large, plus AED 30 for each accessory. Three to five days.

Families on longer stays bring the bedtime toys too. We clean soft toys by hand for AED 55 small, AED 70 medium and AED 120 large, and return them in two to three days, before the child misses them.

For covers you own, at a home in Umm Al Quwain or Ajman you are moving to. Regular sofa covers are AED 35, large AED 40, and cushion covers AED 10, AED 15 or AED 20. Two to three days.

A leather jacket for winter, or the belt and wallet used every day. Leather jackets start at AED 150, coats and blazers at AED 130 and small leather goods at AED 100. Three to five days.
