Carpet and Curtain Cleaning in Al Rayyan: How to Measure, What It Costs, and How Long It Takes
Carpets and curtains are the two biggest pieces of fabric in most homes, and they are the two that people put off longest. Part of the reason is that nobody knows what the job will cost until someone measures it. The other part is time: a rug or a set of blackout curtains is away for days, not hours, and it helps to know how many before you take anything down.
Quick answer: in Qatar we price both by the square metre. A regular carpet is QAR 20 per sqm and a wool carpet QAR 26. Curtains are QAR 20 per sqm without blackout lining and QAR 25 with it. Carpets and curtains come back in 3 to 5 days. In our worked example for one villa, a living room carpet, a wool rug, living room curtains and blackout curtains for two bedrooms come to QAR 896, and the blackout curtains are the largest single line.
This post is about collected cleaning: we pick the pieces up, clean them away from your home and bring them back. Every price comes from our Qatar price list as published in October 2026, and the turnaround from our live service page for Al Rayyan. We do not quote anything that is not on that list.
What Does Carpet and Curtain Cleaning Cost per Square Metre?
There are four rates, and they are the same in every district we cover:
- Regular carpet: QAR 20 per sqm. This covers machine-made carpets and rugs in synthetic or mixed fibres.
- Wool carpet: QAR 26 per sqm. Wool is cleaned on a gentler cycle, because heat and hard agitation make the fibres shrink and felt.
- Curtains without blackout: QAR 20 per sqm. Sheers, voiles and unlined panels.
- Curtains with blackout lining: QAR 25 per sqm. The lining is treated separately so the coated backing stays intact and the drop stays even.
Silk rugs, hand-knotted antique pieces and anything else not on that list do not have a set price, so we will not put a number on them here. Send a photo and the label on WhatsApp and ask for a quote before you book.
How Do You Measure a Carpet or a Curtain?
Because the price is per square metre, a good measurement gives you a good estimate. It does not need to be perfect: the size is confirmed when the piece is laid out, and the price you agree is based on that.
Carpets and rugs: length times width
Measure the longest side and the widest side with the rug flat, and leave the fringe out. A rug that is 2 metres by 3 metres is 6 sqm, so QAR 120 if it is a regular carpet and QAR 156 if it is wool. For a round rug, measure across the middle and treat it as a square of that size; that slightly overstates the area, which is the safe side for an estimate. To tell wool from synthetic, look for the label on the back. If there is none, say so when you book and we check it on collection.
Curtains: the fabric, not the window
This is where most estimates go wrong. A pleated or gathered curtain uses far more fabric than the width of the window behind it. Measure each panel flat, or lay it out on the floor once it is down, from side to side and from the heading tape to the hem. Two panels of 2.5 metres wide and 2.4 metres long are 12 sqm of fabric, even if the window is only 2 metres across. Measure sheers and blackout panels separately, because they are priced differently.
What Does One Villa Cost? Our Worked Example
To show a real number rather than a range, we priced one ordinary set of pieces from a villa. The sizes are our assumptions, not data about any customer's home.
- Bedroom blackout curtains, QAR 300: two bedrooms with 6 sqm of lined curtain each, so 12 sqm at QAR 25.
- Living room carpet, QAR 240: a regular carpet of 3 by 4 metres, so 12 sqm at QAR 20.
- Living room curtains, QAR 200: 10 sqm of unlined curtain at QAR 20.
- Wool rug, QAR 156: a 2 by 3 metre wool rug in the majlis, so 6 sqm at QAR 26.
- Total: QAR 896.
Two things stand out. First, curtains are QAR 500 of the QAR 896, more than half, because a room with floor-length curtains on two walls holds a lot of fabric. If you want to control the cost, measuring curtains properly matters more than anything else. Second, the fibre changes the price of a rug by almost a third: the same 6 sqm costs QAR 120 in a regular carpet and QAR 156 in wool. Check the label before you assume.
How Long Are Carpets and Curtains Away?
Our carpet and curtain cleaning in Al Rayyan brings pieces back in 3 to 5 days from collection. The reason it is not next day is drying: a thick pile or a lined curtain that is folded or rolled while still damp comes back smelling worse than it went. That 3 to 5 day window is the one to plan around.
In practice that means a few nights without bedroom curtains, which matters in Qatar, where blackout lining is what keeps an early sunrise out of the room. Two simple ways to handle it:
- One room at a time. Send the living room curtains and the carpets first, and the bedroom blackout curtains in a second batch once the first comes back. The price per square metre is the same either way.
- Send the rugs and the curtains together if you are going away. If you are travelling for a week, that is the easiest time for every window to be bare, and the pieces are back before you are.
Common Mistakes Before and After a Clean
Measuring the window instead of the fabric. As above, this can make a curtain estimate far too low, and the surprise comes on collection instead of at booking.
Leaving the hooks in. Metal hooks and rings left in a curtain can catch and mark the fabric in transport. If you can, take them out and keep them in a bag, and tell us if the curtains hang on a track that needs the hooks back in the same places.
Laying a clean rug on a wet floor. If you mop the floor before the rug comes back, let the floor dry first. A rug laid on a damp tile takes the moisture back into its base.
Expecting cleaning to undo old damage. Sun fading on a curtain that faces west, worn patches in a pile, and stains that have set over years may lighten but not disappear. Cleaning removes dirt; it does not replace colour or fibre. If a mark matters to you, point it out at collection so it gets attention, and expect lighter rather than gone.
Mixing up alterations and cleaning. If a curtain is too long after a move, shortening and hemming is an alterations job that is priced on request, not part of the per square metre rate. Ask for both at the same time if you need both.
Which Areas Does This Cover in Al Rayyan and Doha?
Al Rayyan is the large municipality to the west of Doha, and our Al Rayyan laundry page lists every district we collect from. Several of the areas people think of as Doha are actually Al Rayyan districts, and several are not, so here is the split for the areas in this post.
In Al Rayyan municipality: carpet and curtain cleaning in Al Gharrafa, a rug and curtain pickup in Al Waab, and the same service next door in Al Aziziyah, which shares a zone with Al Waab. Carpet cleaning in Abu Hamour also sits here: it is officially an Al Rayyan district, although most people count it as part of Doha because Doha Mall and the old central market area are there.
In Doha municipality: curtain cleaning in Bin Mahmoud, carpet and rug collection in Al Duhail in the north of the city, and curtain and carpet pickup in Al Nasr. For everything else in the capital, start from our Doha laundry page. The rates and the 3 to 5 day turnaround are the same on both sides of the boundary.
Booking It
When you message us, send the list: each carpet with its size and whether it is wool, and each curtain panel with its flat size and whether it has blackout lining. A photo of each piece and its label helps. With that we can confirm the price before the van comes. Book a carpet and curtain pickup on WhatsApp.
If you are still deciding whether to clean a carpet yourself with a rented machine, we compared the two in hiring a carpet cleaning service versus renting a machine. For why curtains and sofas collect so much dust indoors, see our guide to curtain and sofa cleaning in Doha.

How much does curtain cleaning cost in Qatar?
Curtains are QAR 20 per square metre without blackout lining and QAR 25 per square metre with it. Measure the fabric of each panel flat, not the window, because pleated curtains use much more fabric than the window width.
